Future Skills Co-op Program for Youth (16+) – TDSB Proposal

As a Child and Youth Care (CYC) student, I propose the development of a Future Skills Co-op Program designed to better engage youth aged 16 and older by connecting their interests with meaningful, real-world learning opportunities.

This program aligns with TDSB co-operative education requirements and responds to the evolving needs, strengths, and motivations of today’s youth.

The program focuses on three key areas:

  1. Beauty and Self-Care
  2. IT, Gaming & Digital Skills
  3. Trades & Financial Skills

These areas are selected based on student interest, accessibility, and strong connections to life skills and future employment.

This initiative is grounded in CYC principles, including strength-based practice, relationship-building, and inclusive, equitable support. It aims to build confidence, independence, and real-life readiness in a safe, supervised, and structured environment.
